Believing that Faith,
Life, and Doctrine are ultimately inseparable, Calvary
GreenWood is committed to the deity and preeminence of
Jesus Christ, the eternal Word of God, as revealed in
the Holy Scriptures, elaborated in the historic creeds
of the Church, and confessed in the lives of those redeemed
by His love.
We believe in one
God, a Spirit omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent,
eternally existent in Three Persons: Father, Son, and
We believe in God
the Father, the uncreated Creator of all that is, who,
in His triune nature, is distinct from but personally
and morally active in His creation. All moral and spiritual
authority ultimately proceeds from Him. His love is the
source of our fellowship with Him and each other. The
ultimate expression of His love for us is His gift of
our Lord Jesus Christ, in whom grace unlimited and truth
We believe in Jesus
Christ, the only Son of God, of one substance with the
Father, who took our nature on Himself for our redemption:
very God and very Man. The eternal Word became flesh,
was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and shed His
blood as a vicarious sacrifice for our sins. He rose again
in the body, ascended to the Father to make intercession
for his people, and will return in power and great glory
at the end of the age to establish His kingdom and judge
the saved and the lost.
We believe in the
Holy Spirit, the third person of the Godhead, the giver
of life who has spoken by the Prophets and Apostles; who
convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment;
and who regenerates, sanctifies, and empowers believers
in Christ for service and witness. The Holy Spirit indwells
every believer in Christ as Helper, Teacher, and guide,
and ministers His gifts to the Church today in the manner
recorded throughout the New Testament.
We believe in the
Church, the Body of Christ universal, unconquerable, indivisible,
transcending time, place, and culture. It is apostolic
in its doctrine, it is catholic in its scope, it is charismatic
in its power and authority, and it is evangelical in its
mission. We recognize that denominational and cultural
distinctives may be necessary for unity in the local church
in a given time or place, but we are transdenominational
in our desire to serve all members of the universal body
We believe the Bible
to be the only authoritative word of God, His unique verbal
self-revelation. The message of the Bible is truth unchanging,
and is infallible and without error in all that it teaches,
asserts, and affirms.
We believe that all
mankind, though created male and female by God in His
image, are sinners by nature and by choice. The result
of sin is that we are alienated from God and each other,
experientially depraved, and under legal condemnation.
We are incapable of being reconciled to God through our
own efforts; but by His grace and through our faith, God
forgave and has justified all who repent of their sin
and consciously confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
By the indwelling of His Holy Spirit He regenerates us,
and enables us to live godly lives.
While we hold these
beliefs, we welcome any believer in the Lord Jesus to
participate in the Fellowship of Christ in a way that
honors Him and demonstrates his love.
